Contents
1. Explore Antelope Canyon
Antelope Canyon is one of the most breathtaking natural areas in Page, Arizona. This slot canyon is famous for its stunning sandstone walls and unique light beams. You can explore the canyon on a guided tour, giving you the opportunity to capture incredible photos of the surreal surroundings. The colors and patterns inside the canyon constantly change, making every visit a unique experience.
The Upper Antelope Canyon and the Lower Antelope Canyon are the place to be. However, Antelope Canyon is quite expensive. This is because it is privately owned land of the local community. You can only visit with a guide. You can read everything about it in my first blog about Antelope Canyon.

2. Explore Horseshoe Bend – a true bucket list spot
Horseshoe Bend is a spectacular curve in the Colorado River, located just outside Page. It offers panoramic views of the river and the surrounding cliffs. To reach the viewpoint, you’ll need to take a short walk, but the reward is absolutely worth it. The combination of deep blue water, red rock formations, and the dramatic bend in the river creates a breathtaking landscape you won’t forget anytime soon.
Horseshoe Bend is very easy to reach. It is located 5 miles south of Page along Highway 89. You park your car in the large parking lot (an entrance fee applies) and walk about 10 minutes to reach Horseshoe Bend. It’s highly recommended to visit around sunset. Bring your dinner and enjoy the incredible view!

3. Take a boat tour on Lake Powell
Lake Powell is one of the largest man-made lakes in the United States and offers endless opportunities for water-based fun. You can take a boat tour across the lake and enjoy the stunning surroundings. Stop at remote beaches, explore hidden coves, and admire the red rock formations that surround the lake. The crystal-clear waters of Lake Powell also make it a fantastic place for swimming.
Rainbow Bridge National Monument
Rainbow Bridge National Monument is one of the largest natural bridges in the world and an impressive sight to behold. You can reach the bridge by taking a boat tour across Lake Powell followed by a short walk. The majestic arch of Rainbow Bridge will leave you in awe and offers fantastic photo opportunities. This national monument is a must-see attraction in Page.
Please note: in recent years, Lake Powell has been heavily affected by drought. The water level is very low. As a result, it may not be possible to reach certain areas by boat or kayak.
Prefer relaxing on the beach?
Don’t expect many developed beaches around Lake Powell like you might find in Europe. There are hardly any facilities, and you definitely won’t find beach bars or loungers. If you still want to relax at the beach near Lake Powell, head to Lone Rock Beach. Here, you can drive your car directly onto the sand. It may feel unusual, but it’s perfectly normal in America.
4. Join exciting water sports activities
In addition to exploring Lake Powell, you can also enjoy exciting water sports in Page. Go rafting on the Colorado River and experience the thrill of the rapids. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can also try kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding on the lake. These activities offer a fantastic way to experience the beautiful natural surroundings of Page.

5. See the massive Glen Canyon Dam
The Glen Canyon Dam is a famous landmark in Page and one of the largest dams in the United States. You’ll probably spot it when entering the town, but for more insight you can visit the Carl Hayden Visitor Center, located near the dam.
The visitor center for Glen Canyon Dam is located 3 miles outside Page on the west side of the bridge. You can park at the center and walk across the bridge for views and photos. There is no entrance fee.

6. Visit a shooting range and choose your weapon
In Page, you can also visit a shooting range. I personally went to Gunfighter Canyon. You can simply walk in: the only requirement to shoot a firearm is that you are 12 years or older. I chose a set including a sniper rifle, a shotgun, and an AK-47. My girlfriend shot a Glock. Everything is clearly explained and you’re allowed to do almost everything yourself. A typical American experience, but one you shouldn’t miss when visiting the United States.
For the above selection of firearms, I paid around $300. It’s definitely a pricey activity.
7. Hike the Cathedral Wash Trail
5.3 km hike without a guide – the perfect addition to a day at Antelope Canyon
Cathedral Wash is a slot canyon known for its high sandstone walls, colorful landscapes, and narrow passages carved by water erosion. It is often considered an alternative to nearby Antelope Canyon. The big advantage is that you can visit without a guide.
My tip: combine your visit to Antelope Canyon with Cathedral Wash in one day!
8. Go hiking in the surrounding national parks
Page, Arizona is surrounded by several stunning natural parks that are perfect for hiking enthusiasts. Visit Vermilion Cliffs National Monument and explore its colorful rock formations and deep canyons. Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument also offers incredible hiking trails and breathtaking views. For a truly unique experience, you can visit The Wave, a spectacular rock formation known for its flowing patterns.
In short, there’s more than enough to do in Page. Of course, you can also relax at your hotel, find convenient facilities such as a Walmart supermarket, and even enjoy a nearby golf course. Page is a must-see stop on your road trip through the American West!
