When you stroll through Queenstown around mealtime, one thing will quickly stand out: lots of people are eating burgers. A Fergburger, to be precise. There’s a huge buzz around this little burger bar. It’s even said to be one of the best burgers in the world! Well, our curiosity was sparked when we were in Queenstown. Naturally, we went looking for the famous Fergburger. And it definitely did not disappoint!

In Fergburger We Trust
That’s the well-known slogan you’ll see hanging inside Fergburger. And yes, it’s as famous as they say, because it’s always busy here. There’s practically a queue all day long. Almost every traveler has been here, or at least knows about it. Queenstown & Fergburger: definitely a must-do, haha!
Fergburger is known for its long lines
When you arrive at Fergburger (Google Maps), the line will immediately catch your eye. Don’t worry! They’re used to it here. We encountered the same queue. It took us about 20 minutes before we walked away with two burgers and two drinks. So things move fairly quickly. They even hand out menus while you wait in line. And if it starts raining? They’ve got a whole stack of umbrellas ready to keep everyone dry. In short, they fully embrace the hype!
Don’t expect overly personal service, but that’s also why a burger here costs around 20 NZD — roughly €11. For two burgers and two drinks, we paid about 50 NZD. Totally reasonable if you want to enjoy a tasty meal out. And tasty it was! As far as we’re concerned, the hype is well-deserved.

From Fergburger, it’s only a 5-minute walk back to the beach — Queenstown Bay Beach, to be exact. Since the sun sets here, it’s a beautiful spot in Queenstown to enjoy your Fergburger. The map below shows you roughly the distance. Queenstown isn’t very big, so the walk is definitely worth it.

If you’re indulging anyway: visit CookieTime in Queenstown

Another New Zealand favorite is CookieTime. These are delicious cookies you can find in any supermarket. Unfortunately, you won’t find them in the Netherlands, even though Unilever owns the brand. There are true fans of CookieTime across New Zealand. The real fan shop is in Christchurch, but the one in Queenstown mainly sells cookies & ice cream! Well… they got me as a fan too.
Enjoy your meal! You’ll definitely work off the calories again while traveling in New Zealand.
